Why A Life Built For Two?

We have had this dream of creating A Life Built For Two for a few years now. We had the dream of creating a brand that would allow us to live out our passion for photography, while creating a community of support for our clients. Being a married couple, we know how much support, communication, and transparency it takes to have a healthy marriage, and these are the things we are constantly working on in our own lives. We want to come alongside each couple we work with to encourage them in their journey of becoming one. Drawing inspiration from the tune “A Bicycle Built For Two,” we came up with A Life Built For Two, and knew our brand would most certainly include a tandem bike. It just so happens that we both love to go biking (we went biking together on our first unofficial date :) ) so we knew it was a done deal. And so A Life Built For Two was born, and as we grow, so will our brand, constantly evolving with the ebb and flow of our lives.

Do you travel Outside of York?

We are based in York, and while we frequently travel to Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Baltimore, we are always willing and excited to travel for a destination wedding! Whether you are traveling domestically or abroad, let us know so we can talk more details!

What photography equipment do you use?

We use Canon camera bodies and lenses, which include the following:

  • Canon 5D Mark IV

  • Canon 135mm f/2.0

  • Canon 85mm f/1.4

  • Canon 35mm f/2.0

  • Canon 16-35mm f/4.0

We also use a variety of on and off camera flash with MagMod modifiers.

do you have an assistant?

Yes! Laikyn is the assistant during all portrait sessions, engagement sessions, and weddings. The assistant will not take any photos; she is there primarily to help everything run smoothly. She is there as a second set of hands to carry equipment, set up lights and hold flashes, and help you anything you may need throughout the day. We may even demonstrate to you how to dip your lovely bride so we can get an epic photo.

what is the advantage of having a second photographer on my wedding day?

There are many reasons you will want to have a second photographer for your wedding day! Having a second photographer means that you have another person capturing different angles and more nuanced moments of your wedding day. One person can only be in one place at a time, so you will receive a wider variety and a higher quantity of photos by choosing to have a second photographer. For example, the second photographer would be documenting the cocktail hour while Bryan, our lead photographer, is off with you doing bridal portraits.

do you offer custom packages?

We definitely do! Every couple and every wedding story is different, and we will help you embrace that. We have a few base packages, and from there you have the opportunity to make the package your own. If you don’t see a package that fits your needs, just let us know and we will custom build a package for you!

how many photos will i receive?

There are many variables that determine how many photos you will receive, such as how many hours of coverage you choose, did you choose to have a second photographer, how big is your bridal party, how many guests did you invite, and how elaborate is your wedding reception. On average, for one photographer you will receive 50 images per hour of coverage, and for two photographers you will receive 75 or more images per hour of coverage.

how do i go about getting prints or an album?

After your portrait session, engagement session, or wedding day, we will do a reveal with you in person or virtually to show you all of the images! From there, you will be able to choose the images you want to print out for wall art, photos you want to give to your family, and we will begin to conceptually design your album and parent albums! For all albums, we will create an initial design for you, and then you will give us feedback and tweaks for us to make. All images that will be printed, whether for an album or wall art, will be further refined to remove any distractions (exit signs, blemishes, stray hairs) to ensure the best final product. Upon your satisfaction and approval for the design, our awesome album and printing company will create the final product. All of the albums we offer have seamless, lay flat pages, and there are so many ways you are able to customize your album, from the cover, engraved text, spine options and more. Our albums are printed and assembled in the United States.
